Honey Singh has been summoned multiple times but failed to appear.
A complaint was filed against him for objectionable remarks made during a concert.
Failure to appear may lead to a Look Out Circular against him.
The Maharashtra Cyber Cell has officially rejected the request of rapper Hirdesh Singh, known as Yo Yo Honey Singh, to appear for questioning on October 22. This decision comes after Singh was summoned to appear today, October 16, in response to a complaint alleging that he made inappropriate remarks during a concert. The Cyber Cell has indicated that the investigation is ongoing and that Singh's absence from previous summonses is concerning.
The controversy surrounding Honey Singh began when a complaint was lodged against him, claiming that he made objectionable comments during a live performance. Despite being summoned three times, Singh has not appeared before the Cyber Cell, citing his absence due to being abroad. This has raised questions about his willingness to cooperate with the investigation. A senior official from the Cyber Cell stated that if Singh fails to comply with the latest summons, they may initiate the process of issuing a Look Out Circular (LOC) against him.
Singh had previously requested additional time to appear before the investigating officer after missing a scheduled questioning on October 5. The complaint that led to his summons was based on remarks he allegedly made during a concert, which prompted the complainant to seek intervention from the authorities. The Cyber Cell's summons was a direct result of this complaint, highlighting the seriousness of the allegations against the rapper.
This incident is not Honey Singh's first brush with controversy. Earlier this year, the Delhi High Court instructed him to file an affidavit in response to a petition from Hindu Shakti Dal, which accused him of performing an objectionable song at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in 2025. The court had previously ordered the removal of URLs for his song "Volume 1" from social media platforms, labeling it as obscene and derogatory towards women, and emphasizing that such content should not be tolerated under the guise of artistic freedom.
As the investigation continues, the implications for Honey Singh could be significant, particularly if further legal actions are taken against him. The Cyber Cell's next steps will be crucial in determining how this situation unfolds. Singh's future appearances and cooperation with the authorities will likely influence the outcome of the ongoing investigation, and the public will be closely watching for any developments in this case.
