Rajendra Arlekar becomes full-time Governor of Tamil Nadu.
Sudha Yadav appointed as Governor of Karnataka, replacing Thawarchand Gahlot.
Dhal Singh Bisen and Dushyant Gautam receive gubernatorial roles in Uttarakhand and Sikkim, respectively.
In a recent announcement on October 12, 2026, President Droupadi Murmu appointed Rajendra Arlekar as the full-time Governor of Tamil Nadu. Previously, Arlekar held dual responsibilities for both Tamil Nadu and Keralam. His new role comes after overseeing the swearing-in of new governments in both states following the elections earlier this year.
Alongside Arlekar's appointment, several other gubernatorial changes were made. Sudha Yadav has been designated as the Governor of Karnataka, succeeding Thawarchand Gahlot. Yadav, a former Member of Parliament from Mahendragarh, Haryana, served on the BJP’s Parliamentary Board until recently. Her appointment marks a significant political shift in Karnataka's governance.
Additionally, Dr. Brij Mohan Ram has been named the Governor of Odisha. Ram previously represented Palamau in Jharkhand as a Lok Sabha member from 1996 to 2004. His experience in legislative matters is expected to aid in his new role.
Uttarakhand will also see a change in leadership with Dhal Singh Bisen taking over as Governor. Bisen, a former MP from Madhya Pradesh, has previously served as a minister in the state government. He replaces Lt. General (retired) Gurmeet Singh, whose tenure was one of the longest in the state's history, concluding in September.
Lastly, Dushyant Gautam, a former Rajya Sabha member and BJP general secretary, has been appointed as the Governor of Sikkim. The official communique from Rashtrapati Bhavan indicated that the terms of these new governors will commence upon their assumption of office, although specific dates were not provided.
