In a shocking incident in Kanpur, a 37-year-old man named Biru Singh Bhadauria died after being dragged on the roof of a moving car for approximately 1.5 kilometers. His hands were reportedly trapped in the front windows of the vehicle, and he was ultimately thrown onto the road and run over. The incident occurred on Tuesday night and has led to widespread protests from his family, who are demanding police accountability and action against the accused.
Biru, a salesman for a food products company, was returning home from a Dussehra fair when he was confronted by a group of men, including Rajveer and Mewalal, who had a prior dispute with him. According to his father, Ram Shankar Singh, the group assaulted Biru, and in an attempt to escape, he was struck by their car. The assailants then placed him on the roof of the vehicle, trapping his hands inside the closed windows, and sped away.
The family reported that the entire ordeal was captured on more than a dozen CCTV cameras in the vicinity. After being dragged for about 1.5 km, Biru was thrown off the car and subsequently run over. He was rushed to a private hospital, but his condition worsened, leading to his transfer to Hallet Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Wednesday afternoon. The postmortem revealed multiple injuries, including severe trauma to the head, which was cited as the cause of death.
The incident has sparked outrage, with family members protesting outside the police station, accusing authorities of failing to register a First Information Report (FIR) despite their initial complaint. A senior police officer stated that the family initially described the incident as a road accident but later changed their narrative to murder. The police are actively investigating the case, having traced the vehicle's registration number and examined the mobile phone locations of the suspects.
As the investigation continues, authorities are under pressure to ensure justice for Biru Singh Bhadauria. The police are currently searching for the remaining suspects involved in this heinous act, and the family is hopeful that the evidence captured on CCTV will aid in securing a conviction.
