Maharashtra's political leaders unite for a humorous book launch amidst ongoing tensions.
Devendra Fadnavis, Uddhav Thackeray, and Raj Thackeray appeared together at a book launch.
The event featured witty exchanges, highlighting camaraderie despite political differences.
The book, 'Maharashtrachya Hasyaresha,' showcases the history of Marathi political cartoons.
In an unusual display of unity, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis shared the stage with Uddhav and Raj Thackeray at the Savarkar Smarak in Dadar on Thursday for the launch of 'Maharashtrachya Hasyaresha.' This book, authored by cartoonist Prashant Kulkarni, delves into the evolution of Marathi political cartoons, providing a humorous lens on the state's political landscape.
The gathering comes at a time of heightened political tensions in Maharashtra, making the joint appearance of these leaders particularly noteworthy. Culture Minister Ashish Shelar opened the event by commending Fadnavis for accepting Raj Thackeray's invitation, emphasizing the importance of setting aside political differences in favor of cultural pursuits.
Raj Thackeray responded humorously, suggesting he would continue to invite Fadnavis as long as Shelar guarantees his position as Chief Minister until 2029. This quip elicited laughter from the audience, setting a light-hearted tone for the evening. Following this, Fadnavis took the stage, humorously noting that he welcomes invitations, including those from Uddhav, who has not reached out since 2019.
The playful banter continued as Fadnavis made a tongue-in-cheek remark about the political alignment of his fellow leaders, asserting his choice to remain on the right side of the podium. He concluded with a humorous jab at Raj Thackeray, suggesting that the latter should focus on his talent for cartooning while Fadnavis manages the political arena.
The event not only celebrated the launch of a significant cultural work but also showcased the ability of these leaders to engage in light-hearted exchanges, potentially easing some political tensions. As the book gains attention, it may serve as a reminder of the lighter side of politics in Maharashtra, encouraging a dialogue that transcends party lines.
