In a significant move to bolster the automotive industry in Telangana, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has officially invited Hyundai Motors to establish a car manufacturing facility in Hyderabad. During a meeting with a delegation from Hyundai Motors India Engineering (HMIE), led by Managing Director Changyeon Cho, Reddy assured the company of the full support of the state government in this endeavor.

The Hyundai delegation shared plans for a Global Innovation Research and Development (R&D) Centre at the National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) in Zaheerabad, which is set to begin construction in the coming months. This integrated facility will require an investment of ₹8,528 crore and is expected to generate approximately 4,276 jobs. The project will span 678 acres and will be developed in phases, featuring a major research and development center along with a large test facility.

Reddy emphasized Telangana's advantageous position, highlighting the availability of skilled labor, dedicated mobility clusters, and the state's expanding transportation infrastructure. He noted that Hyderabad's cosmopolitan nature and reputation as a safe, livable city among India's major metropolitan areas make it an ideal location for such investments. The Chief Minister also committed to expediting any pending approvals necessary for the R&D facility.

Hyundai has maintained a presence in Hyderabad for nearly 20 years, with its Hitec City facility serving as a crucial R&D center for advanced vehicle engineering. The new Zaheerabad facility is expected to further enhance Hyundai's research, testing, and engineering operations within the state. This initiative follows discussions held at the World Economic Forum (WEF) summit in 2024, where Telangana officials explored investment opportunities with Hyundai.

Looking ahead, Reddy also outlined plans for the development of Bharat Future City as a world-class satellite city and invited Hyundai's leadership to participate in the upcoming Invest Telangana Global Summit 2026. Changyeon Cho expressed that Hyundai's vision aligns with the Telangana Rising 2047 initiative, reinforcing the company's commitment to contributing to the state's growth and development.
