Four Pakistani Terrorists Killed in Landmine Blast in PoK
A landmine explosion in Poonch district claims the lives of four Pakistani terrorists attempting infiltration into India.
Four terrorists, including a top commander, killed in an IED blast.
The incident occurred in the Krishna Ghati sector along the Line of Control.
Security measures have been heightened in response to the infiltration attempt.
In a significant security incident, four Pakistani terrorists were killed in a landmine explosion while attempting to infiltrate into India from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The blast occurred on Monday in the Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, as the group attempted to cross the Line of Control (LoC).
The deceased terrorists have been identified as residents of the Mandla area in PoK, with one being a prominent commander of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The individuals were named Muhammad Ishtiaq, Muhammad Faizan, Muhammad Waqas, and Muhammad Asim. The explosion was triggered by an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Satwal-Naki area, known for its historical use as an infiltration route by terrorists.
Officials reported that the circumstances leading to the explosion are still under investigation. This area has seen previous infiltration attempts, with similar incidents resulting in the deaths of members of Pakistan's Border Action Team (BAT). Following the explosion, security forces heightened their alert status across the sector, increasing vigilance along the LoC to prevent any further security breaches.
In a related development, Indian Army personnel discovered two rusted landmines near the border fence in the Basoni area of Mendhar sector on the same day. These mines were located during construction activities and were subsequently destroyed in controlled explosions. The presence of landmines along the LoC is part of an anti-infiltration strategy, although heavy rainfall can sometimes displace these explosives, posing risks to nearby areas.
As security forces continue to monitor the situation, the incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced in maintaining border security and preventing infiltration attempts from across the LoC.
