In a recent statement, AAHL CEO Arun Bansal emphasized the importance of not competing with airline customers amid speculation about entering the airline sector.
AAHL CEO Arun Bansal stated that competing with customers is not a viable strategy.
The company aims to increase passenger handling from 100 million to 300 million annually.
AAHL is involved in airport privatization and is enhancing capacity at Mumbai airport.
Arun Bansal, the CEO of Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL), addressed the potential for the company to enter the airline industry during a session at the Aviation India and South Asia 2026 conference in New Delhi. He firmly stated that it is unwise to compete with one's customers, referring to airlines as the primary clients of AAHL. This comment comes amid rumors regarding the Adani Group's interest in the airline sector, which the group has since denied.
AAHL currently operates eight airports and manages approximately 100 million passengers each year. Bansal highlighted the company's ambitious plans to triple this figure to 300 million passengers annually over the next decade. This growth strategy is part of AAHL's broader participation in the ongoing airport privatization process, which aims to enhance operational efficiency and service quality across its facilities.
In his remarks, Bansal also clarified the distinction between AAHL and the Adani Group, emphasizing that while there may be interest from the group in various sectors, AAHL's focus remains on airport operations and management. This clarification is crucial as it delineates the strategic priorities of the two entities amidst market speculation.
The Mumbai and Navi Mumbai airports are significant assets within AAHL's portfolio. Bansal noted that efforts are underway to boost airside capacity at Mumbai airport, with renovations to Terminal 1 expected to be completed by early 2030. This development is part of AAHL's commitment to improving infrastructure and accommodating future passenger growth.
Looking ahead, AAHL's strategy appears focused on expanding its airport operations while avoiding direct competition with airlines. The company is set to play a pivotal role in the evolving landscape of airport management in India, with plans to enhance passenger experiences and operational capabilities in the coming years.
