7,000 CRPF Personnel Mobilized to Delhi Ahead of CJP Protest
In preparation for the Cockroach Janta Party's protest on October 10, 7,000 CRPF personnel are being redeployed from Chhattisgarh and West Bengal to Delhi.
70 companies of CRPF, totaling around 7,000 personnel, are being sent to Delhi.
Security measures are heightened around Jantar Mantar ahead of the protest.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has canceled multiple visits to monitor the situation.
In a significant move, approximately 7,000 personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) are being redeployed to Delhi from their current postings in West Bengal and Chhattisgarh. This decision comes in anticipation of a protest organized by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) scheduled for October 10, as per official communications dated October 5 and 6.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has directed that all CRPF companies involved in this deployment maintain full operational readiness, equipped with the latest anti-riot gear and weaponry. Each company, consisting of about 100 personnel, has been instructed to prepare for law-and-order duties, ensuring that all members are briefed on their responsibilities and security protocols.
The heightened security measures are particularly focused around Jantar Mantar, the designated protest site, where elaborate arrangements are being made to manage the anticipated influx of demonstrators. The CJP's call for protest, issued on October 3, has prompted Union Home Minister Amit Shah to cancel his scheduled visits to several states, opting to remain in Delhi to oversee the situation as opposition parties have also engaged in protests in recent days.
Since October 2, the New Delhi district has experienced an unprecedented level of security deployment, particularly following protests against the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) over alleged electoral irregularities. The police have blocked access to Jantar Mantar since July 26, restricting alternative venues for protests and invoking Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita to prohibit gatherings in the area.
As part of the rapid deployment process, at least 40 CRPF companies are being de-inducted from West Bengal, with another 30 companies from Chhattisgarh on standby for immediate transfer to Delhi. This mobilization is in addition to existing forces, including the Delhi Police and other Central Armed Police Forces. The urgency of the situation is underscored by communications labeling the transfer as 'MOST URGENT,' with personnel expected to depart by special train as early as October 7.
