The midterm elections are set for November 3, with all House seats and 35 Senate seats contested.

In a recent interview, President Donald Trump expressed his intention to utilize his veto power should Democrats secure control of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections on November 3. Trump indicated that he might adopt the moniker "Mr. Veto" if Republicans lose their majority in either chamber, emphasizing his commitment to blocking Democratic legislation.

During the conversation with Miranda Devine from The New York Post, Trump articulated his strategy for dealing with a Democrat-led Congress. He stated that he would reject any bills passed by Democrats, suggesting that this approach would force them to negotiate. "They'll be sending stuff up. You veto it. And eventually, after a month or two of getting all vetoed, they're just wasting [time], they come over, and you make a deal," he explained.

Trump noted that reaching bipartisan agreements is not unprecedented and expressed hope that Republicans would maintain their congressional majority to avoid resorting to this strategy. He remarked, "If we didn't win, I think we're going to do great, but if we didn't win, I'd veto everything. I'll be vetoing, vetoing," highlighting his readiness to act decisively if necessary.

Historically, Trump has exercised his veto power sparingly, having done so only twice during his current term and ten times during his first term. A presidential veto allows the president to reject legislation, although Congress can override this decision with a two-thirds majority in both the House and Senate.

As the midterm elections approach, all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 Senate seats are up for grabs. Democrats aim to regain control of the House, needing to flip three seats to achieve this goal. The outcome of these elections could significantly influence the legislative landscape in the United States for the coming years.
