In New Delhi, President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan laid floral tributes at Patel's statue located at Patel Chowk. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also honored Patel, highlighting his lifelong commitment to creating a robust and prosperous India, often referring to him as the Iron Man of India.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, along with other dignitaries including Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj, participated in the tributes. Shah later inaugurated the 'Run for Unity' at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, emphasizing Patel's role in shaping the nation’s history and geography. He noted that India's current stature on the global stage is a testament to the strong foundations laid by Patel.
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas serves as a reminder of Patel's monumental contributions to the political unification of India, integrating over 560 princely states into a cohesive nation. The day also underscores the significance of national unity, integrity, and harmony within India's diverse society.
Across the country, government institutions, schools, and colleges are engaging in various activities to honor Patel's ideals. These include unity pledges, cultural programs, and awareness campaigns.
