On Friday, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Atlanta to evaluate the progress of bilateral relations between India and the United States. The discussions were part of the G20 foreign ministers' meeting, where Jaishankar expressed gratitude for Rubio's hospitality via a post on X, stating he took stock of their cooperation.

Jaishankar arrived in Atlanta late Thursday to participate in the G20 meeting, which serves as a platform for discussing global issues among member nations. During this visit, he also engaged in discussions with other officials, including US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor and India's Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra, who were present during the meeting with Rubio.

The meeting comes ahead of the G20 leaders' summit that US President Donald Trump is set to host in Miami on December 14 and 15. This summit will gather leaders from various nations to discuss pressing global challenges and cooperation strategies.

In addition to the G20 discussions, the foreign ministers of the Quad nations—comprising the US, India, Japan, and Australia—are scheduled to convene in Atlanta on Saturday. This will mark the second meeting of Quad foreign ministers this year, as preparations are underway for a leaders' summit anticipated to occur in the Philippines next month.

Following his engagements in Atlanta, Jaishankar will travel to Antigua and Barbuda to participate in the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, which is set to take place from November 1 to 4. This trip underscores India's active role in international diplomacy and its commitment to strengthening ties with key global partners.
