Kumaraswamy raises concerns over the investigation into a suspicious death linked to the case.
In a recent statement, Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy accused Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and Home Minister Priyank Kharge of conspiring against him to divert attention from a sting operation involving former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Speaking to reporters after visiting the Sri Ranganathaswamy temple in Holenarasipura taluk, Kumaraswamy expressed his belief that the Chief Minister initiated discussions about the sting to shift blame towards his party, the Janata Dal (Secular). He stated, "The Chief Minister was the first to raise the sting topic, and since then, there have been attempts to implicate JD(S)."
Kumaraswamy highlighted that individuals such as Rakesh Shetty and Congress leader Krupa Alva were known to be behind the sting operation, which has been acknowledged by Siddaramaiah and his son Yathindra. Despite this, he claimed that Shivakumar and Kharge were trying to redirect the narrative towards the JD(S). He asserted, "We are not afraid and have the strength to face this."
In response to Kharge's comment about the investigation's progress, Kumaraswamy sarcastically remarked on the efficiency of the Home Minister, stating, "He has completed 80 percent of the sting probe and covered up 90 percent of the KPSC scam." He questioned the effectiveness of the ongoing investigation, especially regarding the arrest of the prime accused, suggesting that the government facilitated anticipatory bail without proper opposition in court.
Additionally, Kumaraswamy raised alarms about the suspicious death of Viky, a former employee of Power TV, questioning why the case was classified under an Unnatural Death Report without a thorough investigation. He claimed that a promise of Rs 10 lakh in compensation to Viky's family was not fulfilled, with only Rs 2 lakh provided. He criticized the police for asking for evidence when the accused had openly confessed to the sting operation, emphasizing the need for a proper investigation.
Kumaraswamy concluded by asserting his commitment to pursue the matter until justice is served, indicating that he would not back down in the face of these allegations.
