The assailant, identified as Pratap Singh, a gym trainer, entered the residence while Shashank's wife, Priya Sharma, was leaving for her workout. Shashank was stabbed multiple times before he managed to call for help, prompting the attacker to flee the scene. Police responded swiftly, transporting Shashank to Yashoda Medicity Hospital, where he survived the ordeal.
The incident took place at the Jagriti Resident Welfare Association Society in Vasundhara Sector-1, under the jurisdiction of the Indirapuram police station. Shashank, originally from Jhansi, had been married to Priya for about four years. Both worked as senior accountants in Delhi and had settled in Vasundhara. According to police reports, this was Priya's second marriage, which adds a layer of complexity to the case.
Investigations revealed that Priya and Pratap had developed a close relationship over the past several months at the gym, where Priya had been a member for around eight months.
