Maharashtra Legislature Secretariat Opens on November 28

Preparations for the upcoming Winter Session of the Maharashtra Legislature in Nagpur are intensifying, with the Secretariat slated to commence operations on November 28. This session is crucial as it marks the annual gathering of state lawmakers, set to officially begin on December 7.

The district administration, alongside the Public Works Department (PWD), has been tasked with ensuring that all necessary infrastructure and maintenance projects are finalized before the session kicks off. Key locations such as Vidhan Bhavan, Hyderabad House, Ravi Bhavan, Nag Bhavan, and the MLA Hostel are undergoing significant work, including painting, furniture repairs, and other essential arrangements to facilitate the stay of legislators and government officials.

Officials have set a firm deadline of November 24-25 for the completion of these vital works. The preparations had previously encountered delays due to outstanding payments owed to contractors from the last Winter Session, which had caused some reluctance among contractors to engage in new tenders. However, with the recent release of funds, the tendering process has gained traction, and contractors are now poised to receive work orders to expedite the remaining projects.

As the Secretariat gears up to open, state government officials and employees from Mantralaya are expected to arrive in Nagpur two to three days prior to the commencement of operations. This influx will ensure that all arrangements are in place for the smooth functioning of the Legislature during the session.

Looking ahead, the administration is focused on completing all essential preparations before the arrival of legislators and officials. The upcoming dates are pivotal: with the Secretariat opening on November 28 and the Winter Session starting on December 7, timely completion of infrastructure works is critical for a successful legislative session.
