In a tragic series of events, three people lost their lives in two distinct hit-and-run accidents in Nagpur district within a span of 24 hours. The first incident occurred on October 30, when a speeding pick-up truck collided with a motorcycle near the Lava crematorium on Khadgaon Road, resulting in the deaths of two men and leaving another in critical condition.

The collision took place around 6:40 PM, impacting three riders: Raju Thakur, aged 54, and Siddharth Dhongde, aged 60, both residents of Lava, and Akash Chokhande, aged 55, from Sonba Nagar. Emergency services transported the injured to Mayo Hospital, where Thakur and Dhongde were pronounced dead upon arrival. Chokhande was later moved to a private facility for further treatment. The driver of the pick-up truck reportedly fled the scene, prompting the Wadi police to file a case and initiate a search for the suspect, whose vehicle is registered to Subhash Motghare, a local resident.

The second accident occurred on October 31, when a 22-year-old man, Rishikesh Vanjal, was killed, and his 80-year-old grandmother, Chimabai Vanjal, was seriously injured after their motorcycle was struck by a truck at Sabbalvana near Chanakapur in Saoner. The incident took place around 5:30 PM while Rishikesh was riding to visit relatives with his grandmother.

Witnesses reported that the truck crashed into their motorcycle, causing Rishikesh to be thrown beneath the vehicle's rear wheels, resulting in his immediate death. Chimabai sustained severe injuries and was taken to a private hospital for treatment. Similar to the earlier incident, the truck driver fled the scene, leading the Khaparkheda police to register a case and begin a search for the individual responsible.

These incidents have raised serious concerns regarding road safety and the alarming trend of hit-and-run cases in the region. Local authorities are under pressure to enhance traffic regulations and ensure accountability among drivers. As investigations continue, community members are calling for stricter enforcement of traffic laws to prevent such tragedies in the future.
