₹14 Lakh Worth of Banned Nylon Manja Seized in Nagpur

In a significant operation, the Anti-Vehicle Theft Squad of the Crime Branch in Nagpur seized illegal nylon manja worth ₹14 lakh on Tuesday. The action took place during a routine patrol when officers received a tip-off about suspicious activity involving an autorickshaw.
The police intercepted the vehicle at Bidgaon, located within the jurisdiction of the Wathoda police station, in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Upon searching the autorickshaw, they discovered 360 reels of banned nylon manja from various brands, which are prohibited due to their harmful effects on birds and the environment.
The total value of the seized items, including a mobile phone and the autorickshaw itself, was estimated at ₹14 lakh. During the investigation, the driver admitted to obtaining the nylon manja from an associate living in the Yashodhara Nagar area. He was reportedly en route to deliver the manja to a destination on Symbiosis College Road.
Authorities have registered a case at the Wathoda police station under the relevant legal provisions concerning the possession and transportation of banned materials. The driver, along with the seized goods, has been handed over to the local police for further action.
