US and Asian markets showed mixed signals ahead of key economic meetings.
The Indian stock market is anticipated to open on a negative note on October 27, 2026, as indicated by the GIFT Nifty, which suggests a muted start. This comes after a mixed performance in Asian markets, while US stock futures showed strength ahead of a significant Federal Reserve meeting.
On October 26, the benchmark Sensex broke a four-session losing streak, surging by 483 points to close at 73,606.75. The Nifty 50 also saw a recovery, ending at 22,753.20, marking a 153.20-point gain. Analysts attribute this rebound to value buying and gains in sectors such as telecommunications and healthcare, despite ongoing concerns about elevated crude oil prices, which hover around $101 per barrel.
Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money, noted that the Indian equity markets are likely to remain cautious due to persistently high crude oil prices and geopolitical uncertainties, particularly involving Iran and its implications for oil prices and global risk appetite. Ajit Mishra from Religare Broking highlighted that the markets showed resilience, recovering from early losses as buying interest emerged at lower levels.
The GIFT Nifty was trading around 22,663, down nearly 110 points, indicating a potentially negative opening for the Indian stock indices. Technical analysts suggest that the Sensex has immediate support in the 72,500–73,000 range, with resistance around 74,000–74,400. A sustained move above these levels could strengthen bullish momentum, while a drop below support may lead to renewed selling pressure.
Looking ahead, analysts are cautious about the market's trajectory, with Vatsal Bhuva from LKP Securities emphasizing the importance of the 22,300–22,400 support zone for the Nifty 50. The upcoming trading sessions will be crucial as investors await more clarity on global economic conditions and domestic market trends.
