In a significant move, the Union Cabinet on Tuesday adopted a resolution celebrating Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 25 years of continuous leadership, first as the Chief Minister of Gujarat and subsequently as the Prime Minister of India. The cabinet emphasized that Modi's journey has been driven by the principles of 'Nation First and Citizen First', reflecting the enduring trust the public has placed in him through three overwhelming mandates in Gujarat and support in three successive Lok Sabha elections.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw briefed reporters on the resolution, stating that it goes beyond a mere tribute, encapsulating ten salient features that connect Modi's leadership in Gujarat with his tenure as Prime Minister. The resolution commended initiatives like SWAGAT, which allowed Modi to address citizens' grievances directly, and highlighted the establishment of PRAGATI, aimed at expediting stalled projects. Furthermore, it noted how Gujarat's Jyotigram scheme for agricultural electricity has been replicated nationwide.
The cabinet also acknowledged Modi's personal experiences with poverty, which have informed his policies aimed at improving the lives of millions. The resolution cited the establishment of nearly 60 crore Jan Dhan accounts, the construction of over 4 crore homes, and the upliftment of 25 crore individuals from poverty as evidence of how Modi's understanding of hardship has translated into public action. Additionally, it recognized the empowerment of women through initiatives like the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam and the creation of approximately 3.5 crore 'Lakhpati Didis'.
Moreover, the resolution pointed out Modi's commitment to reform despite political risks, with significant changes such as the implementation of GST and the overhaul of colonial laws. It also emphasized the increase in public capital expenditure and advancements in sectors like electronics and defense production under his leadership. The cabinet noted that Modi's faith in technology has led to improved welfare delivery systems and scientific achievements, including the development of COVID vaccines and the successful Chandrayaan-3 mission.
Looking ahead, the resolution reaffirms a commitment to Modi's vision of a prosperous and self-reliant India by 2047. It highlights the importance of collective efforts in achieving this goal and underscores Modi's role in enhancing India's global stature through diplomatic leadership and international cooperation. The cabinet's resolution serves as a testament to the significant milestones achieved during Modi's leadership and sets the stage for future developments in governance and national progress.
