The counting of votes for the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) elections commenced on November 3, 2026, at Andhra University. The process began at 8 AM, with officials opening strong rooms at 6 AM in the presence of candidates and election agents. A total of 113 counting halls and 1,507 counting tables were set up across the university's North and South campuses to facilitate the counting process.

As of 8:50 AM, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was leading the mayoral contest with 53 votes, followed by the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) with 29 votes. The Congress party secured two votes, while other candidates collectively received 31 votes. In the ward-wise trends, TDP was ahead in eight wards, YSRCP in five, Jana Sena in two, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in one, and an Independent candidate in one ward.

The counting began with postal ballots, which were completed in four wards—23, 43, 56, and 89—by 8:30 AM. The counting process was organized into blocks, with eight blocks arranged at the AU North Campus and two at the South Campus. The authorities aimed to complete the counting in a maximum of two rounds, ensuring a swift and efficient process.

However, there were some delays reported, particularly in Parvatipuram, where officials faced issues opening the strong room due to misplaced keys. Meanwhile, counting also commenced in Vizianagaram district, covering municipalities such as Bobbili, Saluru, and Nellimarla, indicating a broader scope of the election results being processed across the region.

As the day progresses, initial results indicate that TDP has won five wards, Jana Sena has secured two, while BJP and YSRCP each won one ward. Additionally, Independent candidates have claimed victory in three wards, and the Communist Party of India (CPM) has managed to secure one ward as well. The final results are eagerly awaited as they will shape the political landscape in the region for the coming term.
