Sensex Surges Over 1,000 Points as RIL Reports Record Q2 Earnings
The Sensex and Nifty indices experienced significant gains on Monday, driven by strong performance from Reliance Industries and favorable market conditions.
Sensex increased by 1,011.78 points to 75,471.31
Reliance Industries shares rose by 7% after strong Q2 results
Foreign institutional investors purchased equities worth Rs 3,598.54 crore
On Monday, the Indian stock market saw a remarkable rally, with the Sensex climbing over 1,000 points, closing at 75,471.31, while the Nifty crossed the 23,300 mark, reaching 23,318.80. This surge was primarily fueled by robust buying in Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) following its impressive quarterly earnings report for Q2 FY27.
The market's upward momentum can be attributed to several factors, including easing crude oil prices, significant foreign fund inflows, and positive trends in Asian markets. The decline in Brent crude oil prices, which fell to USD 110 per barrel, provided additional relief to investors. Analysts noted that the drop from a six-month high of USD 118 was beneficial, alongside a decrease in the US 10-year bond yield.
Reliance Industries emerged as the standout performer, with its shares soaring by 7%. The company's record earnings and optimistic forecasts from brokerages like Goldman Sachs and Nomura contributed to this surge. Analysts highlighted the strength of refining margins and anticipated growth in the telecom sector as key drivers of RIL's performance. The stock became the most actively traded on both the NSE and BSE, significantly boosting the Nifty 50 index.
In addition to RIL's performance, the overall market sentiment was bolstered by foreign institutional investors (FIIs) purchasing equities worth Rs 3,598.54 crore. This influx of capital, combined with strong corporate earnings from other firms, such as Bank of Baroda and Indian Oil Corporation, further supported the market's upward trajectory. Bank of Baroda's shares rose by 3.5% after it reported strong quarterly results, exceeding expectations on key metrics.
Looking ahead, market analysts suggest that the Nifty index has reclaimed its 50-day exponential moving average, indicating a positive short-term outlook. Immediate resistance levels are identified around 23,300 to 23,400, while support is expected between 23,150 and 23,100. Sustaining above these levels will be crucial for maintaining the current recovery trend in the market.
