In a disturbing case of vigilante violence, a man was allegedly coerced into sexual acts with a married woman in Surendranagar, Gujarat, on October 4. This incident, described as a 'purification ritual,' involved the couple being subjected to public humiliation by the woman's husband and his relatives, who also recorded the acts and shared the footage online.

The woman, originally married in Vapi, had left her husband to live with her partner in Chotila for approximately three months. Her family tracked her down and forcibly returned her to Vapi, where she was reportedly confined. After escaping, she returned to Chotila just days before the incident. Upon learning of her return, her husband and relatives located the couple and took them to a house in Surendranagar, where they enacted the brutal punishment.

Surendranagar Deputy Superintendent of Police, Premsukh Delu, revealed that the police became aware of the situation after community leaders alerted them about the viral videos depicting the assault. Following this, multiple police teams were dispatched to locate the victims. Upon finding the woman, she was visibly distressed and confirmed her identity, leading to her recounting the traumatic events after receiving support.

The couple was reportedly lured to Surendranagar under the pretense of a 'purification ritual,' only to be beaten and humiliated. The man was tied to a tree while the woman was confined, and they were forced to engage in sexual acts in public. The man was also made to drink the woman's urine, with the entire incident filmed and disseminated on social media, prompting outrage and police action.

Authorities are now investigating the individuals responsible for recording and sharing the videos. The accused have been charged under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including those related to sexual offenses, wrongful confinement, and acts of violence, as well as relevant provisions of the IT Act. This case highlights the severe implications of vigilante justice and the urgent need for community awareness and legal intervention.
