BJP plans a counter-protest to address concerns over the rally's timing and implications.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly criticized the Congress-led INDIA bloc for its recent rally at Ramlila Maidan, which coincided with the anniversary of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The party claims that this event is an attempt to create political anarchy and disrupt local businesses, particularly during a festive season that is crucial for small traders.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his discontent, stating that the rally, organized by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, was insensitively timed and hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community. He noted that despite requests to postpone the event, the opposition remained resolute in their plans, which he described as rubbing salt into the wounds of riot victims.
JP Nadda, another prominent BJP leader, echoed these sentiments, labeling the rally as a “calculated conspiracy” aimed at plunging the nation into chaos. He criticized the opposition for disregarding the impact on small businesses and traders, asserting that the rally was an orchestrated drama by those who have faced electoral defeats.
The BJP's response includes plans for a counter-protest, with leaders emphasizing the need to uphold democratic values and respect for the Sikh community. They argue that the timing of the rally is particularly offensive, as it marks a dark chapter in India's history, where many Sikh families suffered immensely.
Looking ahead, the BJP aims to mobilize support against the INDIA bloc's actions while addressing concerns raised by local traders. The party's leaders are expected to continue their outreach efforts to reinforce their stance on maintaining order and respect for historical sensitivities in the political discourse.
