Akash Anand Rejoins BSP as National Coordinator After Apology
Following a heartfelt apology to Mayawati, Akash Anand has been reinstated as the BSP's national coordinator, signaling a renewed commitment to the party.
Akash Anand was reappointed as BSP national coordinator after apologizing to Mayawati.
His previous removal stemmed from perceived loyalty to family over party interests.
Mayawati emphasized the importance of discipline within the party and welcomed Anand's return.
In a significant political development, Akash Anand has been reinstated as the national coordinator of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) after extending an apology to party president Mayawati. This decision was announced on Monday, just three days following Anand's expression of regret and his desire to serve under Mayawati's leadership once again.
The BSP leader, Mayawati, shared the news on social media, stating that the party had deliberated extensively before allowing Anand to return. She noted that his personality had generally been suitable for the party, but recent events necessitated organizational changes. Mayawati expressed hope that with the retirement of Anand's father-in-law, Ashok Siddharth, the party could operate more smoothly without further disruptions.
Anand's removal from the BSP occurred on September 10, shortly after Siddharth announced his retirement from politics. Mayawati had criticized Anand for not supporting her call for Siddharth's retirement, interpreting it as a prioritization of family loyalty over party commitment. She had previously indicated that Anand needed to demonstrate greater political maturity.
In his recent apology, Anand clarified that his lack of response to Mayawati's post was misinterpreted, and he sought forgiveness for any hurt his silence may have caused. He reaffirmed his dedication to the BSP, referring to it as his family and expressing a strong desire to contribute to its mission under Mayawati's guidance. Mayawati confirmed that Anand's request to return was accepted and noted that family members, including his father and younger brother, supported this decision.
Anand's reinstatement highlights the complexities of his political journey with Mayawati. Previously, he faced expulsion from the BSP in May 2024 and March 2025, only to be welcomed back within a month on both occasions. This latest turn of events suggests a potential stabilization in his political relationship with the party leader, as both seek to strengthen the BSP's position moving forward.
