Vishnu Dhas, an entrepreneur with a remarkable journey from poverty to success, has launched TractorNext, a platform aimed at helping farmers choose the right machinery for their agricultural needs. The initiative was unveiled on October 25, 2026, and is designed to prevent farmers from investing in equipment that may not be suitable for their specific circumstances.
Dhas's story begins in Pimpalgaon Dhas, a village in Maharashtra's Solapur district, where he grew up in a family of farm laborers. The family faced severe challenges due to recurring droughts, which ultimately forced them to relocate to Pune in search of better opportunities. Living in cramped conditions with relatives, Dhas developed a strong desire to escape poverty and improve his circumstances from a young age.
After completing his schooling, Dhas entered the workforce, initially taking on small jobs to support his education. His formal career began at a medical store, where he worked his way up from cleaning duties to sales and accounting over five years. Following his graduation, he transitioned into corporate roles, eventually becoming an associate director. However, his entrepreneurial aspirations led him to leave the corporate world and pursue his own ventures in agriculture.
In 2016, Dhas co-founded KhetiGaadi, a platform that connects farmers with information about agricultural machinery. This venture has since expanded to include KhetiGuru, an advisory service for farmers. Dhas's efforts have reached over 72 lakh farmers across India, showcasing the impact of his work in the agricultural sector. With the launch of TractorNext, he aims to further assist farmers by providing tailored recommendations based on their specific farming conditions, such as crop type and irrigation availability.
Looking ahead, Dhas plans to monetize TractorNext through partnerships with machinery manufacturers and advertising. By addressing the critical issue of machinery selection, TractorNext is poised to make a significant difference in the lives of farmers, ensuring they make informed decisions that align with their agricultural practices.
