ReNew Wind Energy Private Limited has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Maharashtra government to create a green integrated data centre park valued at ₹700 billion in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). This ambitious project aims to harness renewable energy and is set to significantly impact the local economy.

The proposed data centre park will be strategically located across Panvel, Khalapur, Taloja, and Bhokharpada, with a total planned capacity of 750 megawatts (MW). Development is scheduled to commence in phases starting in 2028, marking a significant step towards enhancing the region's technological infrastructure while promoting sustainability.

The MoU was officially signed by the principal secretary of the Industries, Investment and Services Department and the CEO of Invest Maharashtra, representing the state government. As part of the agreement, the Maharashtra government will assist in securing the necessary approvals, clearances, and fiscal incentives required for the project.

One of the most notable aspects of this initiative is its commitment to integrating renewable energy into its operations. The facility is expected to utilize 51 percent green power and will feature dedicated power infrastructure, including two incoming feeders from independent energy sources, ensuring a reliable and sustainable energy supply.

Looking ahead, the establishment of this data centre park is anticipated to have a profound impact on the local job market and the broader economy of Maharashtra. With the promise of thousands of job opportunities and a focus on renewable energy, the project aligns with the state's vision for sustainable development. Stakeholders are keenly awaiting further developments as the project progresses towards its phased launch in 2028.
