NTPC REL Seeks Bids for 600 MW Solar Initiative in Maharashtra
NTPC Renewable Energy has opened bidding for a significant solar project in Maharashtra, inviting contractors for a 600 MW capacity.
Bids are invited for 600 MW solar projects near Dhule, Maharashtra.
Contractors must ensure land is suitable for solar development and energy storage.
Bidding deadline is set for November 13, 2026, with an EMD of Rs. 200 million.
NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) has announced the commencement of bidding for a substantial solar energy project in Maharashtra, specifically targeting a capacity of 600 MW. This initiative is focused on the construction of ground-mounted solar photovoltaic systems connected to the interstate transmission system (ISTS), located in proximity to the Dhule Solar Project. The project is divided into two segments of 300 MW each, allowing bidders the option to compete for one or both segments.
The selected contractor will be responsible for the identification and acquisition of land necessary for the project, which must be free of any encumbrances and include space for a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The scope of the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract encompasses the design, engineering, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of the solar plants, along with the necessary infrastructure for power evacuation.
Additionally, the contractor is tasked with developing a dedicated 220 kV transmission line and constructing new terminal line bays at the pooling substation associated with NTPC REL’s Dhule Solar Project. The contract also stipulates performance testing to ensure guaranteed power generation, along with the provision of mandatory spare parts and comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M) services for a period of three years post-commissioning.
The Invitation for Bids (IFB) was officially issued on October 16, 2026, with the deadline for downloading bidding documents set for October 26, 2026, at 5:00 PM IST. A pre-bid conference is scheduled for October 28, 2026, to address any queries from potential bidders. The submission of techno-commercial and price bids is required by November 13, 2026, with the opening of bids planned for the same day at 3:30 PM IST.
To participate, bidders must provide an Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of Rs. 200 million for either one or both 300 MW blocks. Although there is no fee for the bidding documents, bidders are required to upload a signed Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) on the ETS portal to gain access to the official documents. Furthermore, bank guarantees must be submitted electronically through the National e-Governance Services (NeSL), as physical submissions will not be accepted. The tender also emphasizes future energy storage integration in line with land and infrastructure requirements.
