On November 2, 2026, the Maharashtra Home Department announced a major reshuffle involving 16 senior police officers, redistributing them across ten districts. This decision, based on recommendations from Police Establishment Board No. 1, aims to optimize police operations in areas such as Thane, Beed, Satara, Nanded, Pune, Nagpur, Ratnagiri, Latur, Bhandara, and Nashik.
Among the notable changes, three senior officers in Thane have been granted one-year extensions in their current positions. Amarsingh Jadhav, who serves as the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Crime Branch, along with DCP Zone 5 Prashant Kadam and Shivraj Patil, will continue in their roles, reflecting the government's confidence in their leadership amid widespread transfers.
The reshuffle includes significant appointments, with Anmol Mittal moving from Thane to Ambajogai in Beed district as Additional Superintendent of Police. Meena Makhwana has been appointed as the new Additional SP for Thane Rural, filling the vacancy left by Mittal's transfer. Other notable movements include Suraj Gurav, who transitions from Thane City to Additional SP in Nanded, and Jayant Bajbale receiving a new posting as well.
The impact of this reshuffle extends beyond individual officers, as it aims to restructure police administration across Maharashtra. By redistributing experienced personnel, the government seeks to enhance both crime prevention and intelligence operations, which are critical for maintaining public safety in the state.
Looking ahead, the Home Department's ongoing evaluations and future appointments will likely continue to shape the landscape of law enforcement in Maharashtra. Stakeholders are keenly observing how these changes will influence crime rates and police efficiency in the coming months.
