Maharashtra registered 1,12,814 vehicles during Navratri 2026.
Pune topped the list with 12,752 vehicle registrations.
The overall registrations saw a 2% decline compared to the previous year.
During the recent Navratri festival, Maharashtra recorded a total of 1,12,814 vehicle registrations, which included over 77,000 two-wheelers and approximately 25,000 cars. This figure, reported on October 22, 2026, reflects a slight decline of about 2% compared to the previous year's registrations. The data was compiled by the state's transport department, covering the period from October 11 to October 20.
The drop in vehicle sales has been attributed to several factors, including poor rainfall, drought conditions, and uncertainties in the global financial landscape. These elements have collectively impacted consumer confidence and spending during the festive season, which typically sees a surge in vehicle purchases.
According to the statistics released, out of the total registrations, 77,449 were private two-wheelers, while 25,536 were private cars. The figures indicate a robust demand for two-wheelers, which continue to be a popular choice among consumers in Maharashtra, despite the overall decline in sales.
Pune emerged as the leading city in vehicle registrations during this period, with a total of 12,752 vehicles registered. This highlights Pune's status as a significant market for vehicle sales in the state, reflecting its growing urban population and economic activity.
Looking ahead, the vehicle sales landscape in Maharashtra may continue to be influenced by ongoing economic conditions and weather patterns. Stakeholders in the automotive industry are keenly observing these trends as they prepare for the upcoming festive seasons and potential recovery in consumer demand.
