During the Rising Bharat Summit held in Mumbai, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis showcased two significant platforms aimed at enhancing investment in the state. The MAITRI initiative acts as a single-window system for businesses, while the recently launched Invest Maharashtra platform is tailored to assist investors in navigating the complexities of project establishment.

Fadnavis emphasized the importance of competition among states for attracting investments, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'competitive federalism.' He noted that this competition is beneficial for the country, stating, "Whichever state is getting the investment is good for the country."

MAITRI, which stands for Maharashtra Industry, Trade and Investment Facilitation Cell, was created under the Maharashtra Industry, Trade and Investment Facilitation Act of 2023. It aims to simplify the investment process by consolidating services from various government departments into a unified platform. The MAITRI 2.0 portal, launched in February 2025, integrates 128 services across 14 departments, allowing investors to track their applications online.

On the other hand, Invest Maharashtra, introduced in October 2026, serves as a dedicated investment promotion initiative. It provides a single point of contact for investors, helping them coordinate essential requirements such as land, electricity, and government approvals. This platform is designed to facilitate investment proposals and monitor project implementation alongside agencies like MAITRI and the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).

At the launch of Invest Maharashtra, the state government revealed 67 memorandums of understanding (MOUs) that involve proposed investments totaling Rs 8.57 lakh crore, with the potential to generate approximately 2.91 lakh jobs. Fadnavis reiterated that the goal of these initiatives is to streamline the investment process, making it easier for businesses to seek assistance and fulfill their requirements effectively.
