The Maharashtra government has announced a significant enhancement to its Aaple Sarkar portal, which now offers 71 new online services aimed at improving citizen access to government resources. This upgrade, revealed by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during a meeting in Mumbai, includes a substantial contribution from the transport department, which has added 61 services to the platform.

The Aaple Sarkar portal serves as a single-window system for citizens to apply for government certificates, licenses, and other essential services online. This initiative is part of the government's broader strategy to streamline access to public services and reduce the necessity for citizens to visit government offices repeatedly. The Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act, enacted in 2015, mandates that these services be delivered within specified timeframes, allowing citizens to appeal against delays or unjustified rejections.

In addition to the Aaple Sarkar enhancements, the government has rolled out MahaDBT 2.0, which introduces 36 new schemes, primarily focusing on fisheries, labor, and women and child development. The MAITRI portal has also expanded its offerings, adding 13 services from the legal metrology department. These initiatives are designed to improve the efficiency and accessibility of government services across various sectors.

The government has successfully generated over one crore Maha IDs during a soft launch aimed at integrating departmental databases and verifying welfare beneficiaries. This integration is expected to facilitate a more comprehensive rollout of services across all departments. The newly introduced MahaIndus platform will leverage artificial intelligence to assist officials in drafting and translating documents, summarizing correspondence, and analyzing information in 22 Indian languages, including Marathi. Officials have assured that strong safeguards will be in place to protect official data from leaks.

Looking ahead, Chief Minister Fadnavis emphasized the importance of integrated databases and AI technology in identifying ineligible beneficiaries and ensuring that government schemes effectively reach those who qualify. He urged all departments to expedite the integration process and utilize these new platforms to address any existing technical and operational challenges.
