The Lek Ladki scheme applications are now accessible online, streamlining the process for women across Maharashtra.
Applications for the Lek Ladki scheme can now be submitted online through the MahaDBT 2.0 portal.
The new process reduces required documentation and allows applicants to track their application status.
The scheme targets girls from eligible households, providing assistance based on age and education milestones.
On November 1, 2026, the Maharashtra government announced that applications for the Lek Ladki scheme would now be available online through the upgraded MahaDBT 2.0 portal. This initiative was revealed by Aditi Tatkare, the Minister for Women and Child Development, as part of a broader Government Process Re-engineering (GPR) effort aimed at enhancing service delivery.
Previously, applicants were required to submit their applications at local Anganwadi centers, which often posed challenges for residents in areas lacking these facilities. The transition to an online application process allows women across Maharashtra to apply from anywhere, significantly improving accessibility. The new system not only simplifies the application procedure but also reduces the number of documents needed for submission.
The MahaDBT 2.0 portal enables applicants to register, undergo scrutiny, and receive application approvals online. Additionally, it allows users to check the status of their applications in real-time, enhancing transparency and efficiency. This shift is part of a larger strategy to ensure that benefits are directly transferred to beneficiaries' bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, which was established prior to this change.
The Lek Ladki scheme is specifically designed for girls from households with yellow or orange ration cards in Maharashtra. The assistance provided is structured around various age and educational milestones, aiming to support the education and empowerment of girls in the state. The DBT system requires beneficiaries to have a linked bank account and Aadhaar number, ensuring that the benefits reach the intended recipients directly.
Looking ahead, the Maharashtra government plans to continue enhancing the MahaDBT portal to include more welfare schemes, making it a comprehensive platform for various state-sponsored initiatives. This move is expected to further streamline application processes and improve access to essential services for residents across the state.
