Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated three new flyovers in Mumbai today, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion in the bustling city. The projects include the railway overbridge at Sion and Vidyavihar, as well as a flyover on the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road.

During the virtual inauguration, Fadnavis emphasized that these infrastructure developments are designed to enhance connectivity across the city, facilitating smoother north-south and east-west travel. He highlighted the goal of reducing overall travel times to between 50 and 60 minutes, significantly improving the daily commute for residents.

The Sion railway overbridge is a notable project, having replaced a 112-year-old British-era structure that was deemed unsafe in 2019. This new bridge is expected to support the future construction of additional railway lines between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Kurla, as part of the Mumbai Urban Transport Project, thereby enhancing the city's public transport network.

The Vidyavihar bridge is also set to have a substantial impact, cutting the travel time between the eastern and western parts of Mumbai from 30 minutes to just 10 minutes. This improvement is anticipated to ease congestion at critical junctions, benefiting thousands of commuters daily.

Looking ahead, these infrastructure projects are part of a broader vision for Mumbai's urban development. The government aims to continue enhancing the city's transport framework, with further initiatives expected to be announced in the coming months to address ongoing traffic challenges.
