Maharashtra Announces Special Stray Vacancy Rounds for 138 Medical Seats

The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has initiated three online special stray vacancy rounds to allocate 138 unfilled MBBS and BDS seats for the academic year 2026-27. This announcement was made on November 4, 2026, after the conclusion of the regular centralized admission rounds and previous stray vacancy rounds.

According to the CET Cell, the vacant seats comprise 84 MBBS and 54 BDS positions distributed among government, private, and private university institutions. Notably, all MBBS seats in government medical colleges have been filled, with the remaining vacancies located in private medical colleges and universities. The detailed vacancy distribution indicates that private medical colleges have 39 MBBS and 22 BDS seats available, while private universities have 45 MBBS and 30 BDS seats.

To participate in the special stray vacancy rounds, candidates must have qualified for NEET UG 2026 and registered for the admission process without securing a seat in any Group A admission round. However, those who enrolled in MBBS or BDS courses by October 26, 2026, or were allotted seats through the All India Quota are not eligible. Additionally, candidates who received seats in Round 3 or later but did not join are also excluded from this process.

The CET Cell has outlined the schedule for the first special stray vacancy round, which includes the publication of the vacancy list on November 4, the online choice filling from November 5 to 7, and the announcement of results on November 8. Candidates who are allotted seats must report to their designated colleges by November 10, 2026, with the necessary documents and fee payment.

Further schedules for the second and third special stray vacancy rounds will be made available on the official Maharashtra CET Cell website. Candidates are advised to regularly check the portal for updates and detailed admission instructions.
