Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the BHARAT TAXI service at Navi Mumbai International Airport, emphasizing its role as a cost-effective and transparent alternative to existing ride-hailing options. This launch event was held in collaboration with the Central Government and attended by several dignitaries, including Union Minister of State for Cooperation and Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol.

During the ceremony, Fadnavis highlighted the challenges faced by passengers using traditional aggregators like Ola and Uber, particularly regarding fluctuating fares during peak times and adverse weather conditions. He pointed out that drivers often bear the brunt of high commission fees, which BHARAT TAXI aims to alleviate by fostering a direct connection between drivers and passengers, thereby eliminating intermediaries.

The newly introduced platform offers a variety of transportation options, including cars, auto-rickshaws, and bike taxis, all accessible through a single mobile application. The fare structure is designed to be competitive, mirroring that of Mumbai's iconic black-and-yellow taxis, with an initial charge of 31 rupees for the first 1.5 kilometers and 21 rupees for each subsequent kilometer.

Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol elaborated on the cooperative model, which empowers drivers by transforming them from mere employees to members and co-owners of the service. This model allows drivers to share in the profits, with nearly eight lakh drivers already enrolled and a total of 77 crore rupees disbursed directly to their bank accounts without any commission deductions.

Looking ahead, the BHARAT TAXI service is expected to expand its reach and improve the livelihoods of drivers across India. The government anticipates that this initiative will enhance urban mobility while ensuring fair compensation for drivers, setting a new standard in the ride-hailing industry.
