GK Energy Wins ₹3.30 Billion Solar Pump Contract in Maharashtra
GK Energy Limited has secured a significant order for solar water pumping systems from MSEDCL, enhancing renewable energy access in Maharashtra.
GK Energy awarded ₹3.30 billion contract for 14,000 solar pumps.
The project must be completed within two months of the work order.
This follows a previous order for 10,000 solar pumps valued at ₹2.35 billion.
GK Energy Limited has been awarded a substantial contract valued at ₹3.30 billion by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for the supply of 14,000 off-grid direct current (DC) solar photovoltaic water pumping systems. This initiative is part of the Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana, aimed at promoting sustainable agricultural practices across the state.
The order specifically includes the provision of 5 HP solar pumps, which are designed to enhance irrigation efficiency in rural areas. GK Energy is tasked with the complete execution of the project, which encompasses the design, manufacture, supply, transportation, installation, testing, and commissioning of the solar pump systems. The company is expected to complete the project within a tight timeframe of two months from the issuance of the work order.
This latest contract builds on GK Energy's previous engagement with MSEDCL, where in July 2026, the company received a letter of empanelment for 10,000 off-grid DC solar photovoltaic water pumping systems. That earlier order, valued at ₹2.35 billion, included a range of pump capacities—3 HP, 5 HP, and 7.5 HP—further establishing the company's role in expanding renewable energy solutions in Maharashtra.
The implications of this contract are significant for both the agricultural sector and the broader energy landscape in Maharashtra. By facilitating access to solar-powered irrigation, the initiative is expected to support local farmers in enhancing crop yields while reducing dependency on conventional energy sources. This aligns with the state's goals of promoting renewable energy and sustainable agricultural practices.
Looking ahead, GK Energy will focus on meeting the project deadlines and ensuring the successful implementation of these solar pumping systems. The timely execution of this project could pave the way for additional contracts and further investments in renewable energy infrastructure within Maharashtra, contributing to the state's energy transition efforts.
