On November 7, Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Shinde's visit was aimed at inquiring about Pawar's health, and he reported that the veteran politician is recovering well, with all medical parameters returning to normal.
During a press interaction following his hospital visit, Shinde expressed optimism regarding Pawar's discharge, stating that the doctors indicated he might be released soon. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for prioritizing personal health concerns over political affiliations, highlighting Modi's recent phone call to Pawar to check on his condition.
Shinde noted that despite being hospitalized, Pawar remained engaged with pressing public issues, particularly those affecting farmers and drought-impacted communities. The Deputy CM shared that their conversation included discussions on water scarcity in Satara and Mahabaleshwar, reflecting Pawar's commitment to addressing agricultural challenges even while receiving treatment.
The implications of Shinde's visit extend beyond personal goodwill; it underscores a collaborative spirit among political leaders in Maharashtra, particularly in addressing the needs of the farming community. Shinde remarked that their relationship transcends political boundaries, indicating a shared responsibility towards the public.
Looking ahead, both Shinde and the medical team at Breach Candy Hospital have advised Pawar to take adequate rest before resuming his duties. Dr. Pratit Samdani confirmed that Pawar is responding well to treatment, reinforcing the positive outlook for his recovery. As Pawar recuperates, the political landscape in Maharashtra may witness renewed discussions on agricultural policies and support for farmers in the coming weeks.
