Investigations are underway to trace the source of the threatening emails.
On Monday, bomb threat emails triggered panic and security measures at five district and sessions courts across Maharashtra, specifically in Pune, Thane, Hingoli, Beed, and Nanded. The threats led to immediate evacuations and extensive searches by law enforcement agencies, although no suspicious items were discovered during these operations.
In Thane, the court complex was evacuated after an email warned of a bomb set to detonate at 3:30 PM. The Thane Nagar police swiftly evacuated judges, lawyers, and court staff, ensuring their safety. Following the evacuation, a Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) was deployed to conduct a thorough search of the premises.
Similarly, in Pune, the Shivajinagar court was evacuated after receiving a bomb threat email. A police officer confirmed that the BDDS was called in to search for any potential explosives. In Hingoli, an email threatening to blow up the court was received shortly after the court opened, prompting immediate police intervention and a search operation by BDDS personnel.
The Beed court also received a bomb threat email at 11:52 AM, warning of an explosion at 3:11 PM. Local officials confirmed that police, along with BDDS and Local Crime Branch (LCB) teams, conducted a sanitization exercise and search operation at the court complex. Additional Superintendent of Police Shaikh Sameer mentioned that cyber teams are investigating the IP address to determine the authenticity of the threat.
The Nanded district court received a similar email threat around noon, which was later deemed a hoax after a two-hour search revealed no explosives. The court administration had promptly forwarded the email to police for urgent action, leading to the evacuation of all personnel present. Authorities are now conducting a technical investigation to identify the sender of the threatening email, as they continue to assess the situation and ensure public safety.
