In a disturbing incident from Chandrapur district, Maharashtra, approximately 82 students at a government-run ashram school were subjected to half-bald haircuts as a form of punishment. This occurred on Saturday at a secondary ashram school located in Jambhulghat, Chimur taluka. Reports indicate that the students were playing while waiting for their turn to get haircuts, which provoked the school superintendent's ire.

The superintendent allegedly directed the barber to administer half-bald haircuts to the students, resulting in uneven and unsightly hairstyles. The unusual disciplinary action came to public attention when photographs of the affected students surfaced, leading to widespread outrage among parents and the community.

The haircut session was organized by the school, but the superintendent's reaction to the students' behavior was severe. Following the backlash from parents, who expressed their concerns over the incident, officials from a higher authority intervened and instructed the school to rectify the haircuts. Consequently, a second round of haircuts took place late at night, starting around 11 PM and concluding around 4 AM on Sunday, as some students were preparing for bed.

In defense of his actions, Superintendent Prashant Meshram stated that the decision was made with the students' best interests in mind, citing issues with hair hygiene and the inability to maintain regular haircuts due to inclement weather. Nonetheless, the principal, Prashant Giri, has issued a show-cause notice to the superintendent regarding the incident, indicating that the school is taking the matter seriously.

Parents are now calling for a comprehensive and unbiased investigation into the incident, insisting that the response should not be limited to a mere show-cause notice. They are advocating for strict disciplinary measures against those responsible for this punitive action, emphasizing the need for accountability in the school system.
