He had previously voiced concerns about heart attacks during a public event in Nagpur.

Nana Patekar, the acclaimed veteran actor, passed away at the age of 76 at his residence in Goa due to a cardiac arrest. The incident occurred early Thursday morning when he was found unconscious in his apartment located in Dona Paula, near Panaji. Despite immediate medical attention and 45 minutes of continuous CPR, doctors were unable to revive him, and he was pronounced dead at 5:10 AM.
Earlier this year, on May 18, Patekar had openly shared his apprehensions regarding heart attacks during a program in Nagpur. The event, attended by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and other dignitaries, celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Purti Sinchan Samruddhi Kalyankari Sanstha, a water conservation organization. Patekar expressed that his fear of a heart attack was the reason he chose not to perform in the play 'Natsamrat', stating that previous actors in the lead role had suffered fatal heart attacks.
A close friend of Patekar revealed that the actor had sent a message at around 3:30 AM indicating he was unwell. Upon receiving the message, the friend rushed to his apartment, where he found Patekar in need of urgent medical assistance. An ambulance was called, and treatment commenced immediately, but unfortunately, it was too late to save him.
The actor's body has been transferred to Goa Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Patekar's passing has left a significant void in the Indian film industry, especially among his fans and colleagues who admired his work and contributions to cinema.
Looking ahead, the film community is expected to pay tribute to Patekar's legacy, particularly highlighting his impactful performances, including his portrayal of Ganpatrao “Appa” Belwalkar in the 2016 film adaptation of 'Natsamrat'. His insights into the challenges faced by actors and his candid discussions about health will likely resonate in future discussions about the pressures of the performing arts.
