India is set to host the third BRICS Transport Ministers’ Meeting in Nagpur, Maharashtra, on July 11 and 12, 2026. This meeting will gather transport ministers and senior officials from BRICS member nations to discuss vital issues surrounding sustainable infrastructure and transport cooperation. The event is part of India's agenda as the current chair of BRICS, themed "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability."

The meeting will be chaired by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, who will lead discussions aimed at enhancing collaboration in the transport sector. This gathering follows the initial two meetings of the BRICS Transport Working Group, which were held in Russia and Brazil, establishing a platform for dialogue on transport policy among member states.

According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the discussions will align with India's vision for Viksit Bharat 2047, which emphasizes creating a climate-conscious and technology-driven transport ecosystem. Key areas of focus will include promoting electric mobility, implementing circular economy solutions, and enhancing multimodal transport to lower logistics costs and foster green mobility.

During the two-day event, senior officials will assess progress made since the previous chairships, share best practices, and deliberate on future collaborations in areas such as sustainable aviation fuel, urban mobility, resilient logistics supply chains, and the integration of artificial intelligence technologies in transport systems. The expanded BRICS group now includes Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the UAE, representing nearly half of the global population and contributing approximately 40% of the world’s GDP.

The Nagpur meeting is anticipated to strengthen transport cooperation among BRICS nations, facilitating trade and improving both regional and intercontinental connectivity. This initiative aims to enhance logistics efficiency and build resilient global supply chains, continuing the momentum from prior meetings hosted by Russia and Brazil.
