KIMS Kingsway Hospitals in Nagpur has officially launched Central India's first hybrid cathlab, the Wipro GE Allia 540, aimed at bolstering its cardiac surgical capabilities. This cutting-edge facility integrates advanced imaging technologies, including AI-enabled imaging and three-dimensional visualization, to facilitate complex minimally invasive procedures.

The hybrid cathlab is designed to support a variety of endovascular interventions, including endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) and thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR). The Allia system is equipped with a large-area detector and advanced radiation safety features, ensuring high-quality imaging while minimizing radiation exposure for both patients and healthcare professionals.

Notable features of the hybrid cathlab include cone-beam computed tomography (CT), which allows for real-time three-dimensional visualization of anatomical structures. Additionally, the system's image-fusion capabilities enable clinicians to merge previously obtained imaging data with live procedural images, enhancing the precision of interventions. A 55-inch medical-grade monitor and a specialized tilting operating table further improve visualization and patient positioning during procedures.

This significant development follows a memorandum of understanding between KIMS and Wipro GE Healthcare, which outlines a medical technology procurement agreement worth up to INR 700 Crores over three years. This partnership aims to equip KIMS' network of hospitals with advanced medical technologies, including PET-CT, SPECT-CT systems, and various imaging and critical care equipment.

Looking ahead, the introduction of the hybrid cathlab is expected to greatly enhance the capabilities of KIMS in providing specialized vascular and endovascular care in Central India. The hospital plans to leverage this technology to ensure precision-guided interventions and improve procedural safety, marking a significant advancement in cardiac healthcare in the region.
