In a significant move to enhance cultural ties, Digambar Kamat, Goa's Minister for Public Works Department, announced plans for a 'Vidarbha Mahotsav' to be held in Goa. This announcement was made during the inauguration of the Ram Jadhav Smriti Vidarbha-level Ekanki Mahotsav, hosted by the Vidarbha Sahitya Sangh in Nagpur on Tuesday.

Kamat highlighted the longstanding respect for artists in Goa and acknowledged Vidarbha's rich cultural heritage. He noted that both regions share a deep appreciation for artistic endeavors. Reflecting on previous cultural exchanges, he mentioned a Goa festival that was successfully organized in Vidarbha and expressed his commitment to reciprocate by organizing a festival celebrating Vidarbha's culture in Goa.

The minister expressed optimism that the proposed festival would serve as a vital platform for artists from both regions to exhibit their work, thereby promoting cultural exchange. He emphasized that such initiatives could bridge communities and foster a greater understanding of each other's traditions and artistic expressions.

During his address, Kamat praised the Ram Jadhav Smriti Ekanki Mahotsav for providing emerging artists with opportunities to showcase their talents. He underscored the importance of one-act play festivals in preserving and nurturing the region's theatrical legacy, encouraging new performers to step into the spotlight.

Kamat also reminisced about his connection with the Vidarbha Sahitya Sangh, specifically mentioning his visit to meet its president, Dr. Girish Gandhi. If realized, the Vidarbha Mahotsav in Goa is expected to replicate the successful cultural exchange initiated by the Goa festival in Vidarbha, offering artists from the region a broader platform to reach audiences beyond Maharashtra.
