In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Mahasamund district police in Chhattisgarh have arrested four individuals allegedly involved in separate ganja supply cases. The arrests, part of the ongoing Operation Nischay, were announced on Tuesday and reveal connections to suppliers in Odisha and Nagpur, Maharashtra. The police utilized mobile phone data and technical analysis to trace the supply networks, leading to these arrests following the seizure of contraband intended for transport to various states including Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.

The largest case involved the arrest of Dhyanendra Biswal, 36, and Prashant Nag, 33, both from Odisha. They were apprehended on October 27 after police linked them to a significant seizure of 225 kg of ganja, which had been intercepted on March 26 while being transported on NH-53. The contraband, valued at approximately Rs 1.125 crore, was concealed under watermelons in a pickup truck. Investigators stated that information gathered from the arrested individuals and mobile phone analysis played a crucial role in identifying the source of the supply.

In a separate investigation, Abdul Kaleem Khan, 59, was arrested in Nagpur on October 26 for allegedly coordinating the transport of 8.1 kg of ganja. This seizure occurred on May 13 during vehicle checks, where the contraband was found in a small commercial vehicle. Police allege that Khan was involved in sending the vehicle to Odisha to facilitate the drug's transport. He is currently in judicial custody until November 5.

Additionally, Peter Kruf, 34, was arrested in Nagpur in connection with another case involving 14.8 kg of ganja, which was reportedly transported from Odisha. The original seizure took place near the Narra checkpost in Mahasamund, where several individuals were caught transporting the drug on motorcycles. The police's investigation, which included mobile phone location tracking, led to Kruf being identified as the intended recipient of the shipment.

In another operation on October 26, police intercepted an SUV on Padampur Road, seizing 41.59 kg of ganja valued at Rs 20.79 lakh. Two men from Madhya Pradesh were arrested, and the police reported that the contraband was intended for sale in Satna. The total value of the seized items, including the vehicle and mobile phones, amounted to around Rs 31.14 lakh. These operations reflect Mahasamund police's commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks by targeting suppliers and financial connections within the supply chain.
