In a shocking incident on Sunday afternoon, a food vendor and his brother were attacked and robbed near IT Park in Nagpur. The victims, 23-year-old Ritesh Vishwakarma and his 24-year-old brother Nilesh, were assaulted by 25-year-old Nitin Marke, who allegedly caused significant damage to their food stall and stole Rs2,000.
The attack unfolded around noon when Ritesh, Nilesh, and their father, Suresh, were operating their stall. According to Ritesh's complaint, Marke arrived with two women and began verbally abusing him before smashing the glass of their stall, resulting in damages estimated at Rs15,000. The situation escalated when Marke physically assaulted Suresh and threatened his life.
As the confrontation intensified, Marke demanded money from Ritesh. When Ritesh refused, Marke allegedly attacked him with a knife, inflicting injuries to his left ear, hand, and head. Nilesh attempted to defend his brother but was also stabbed by the assailant, suffering injuries between his eyes and ears.
The Pratap Nagar police have registered a case against Marke, who is reported to have a criminal history. This incident raises concerns about safety in public spaces, particularly for small vendors who are often vulnerable to such violent acts.
Authorities are now investigating the case further, and the police have urged anyone with information to come forward. The local community is shaken by the incident, highlighting the need for increased security measures for street vendors in the area.
