A significant fire broke out early Monday morning in a slum area adjacent to the Air Force Nagar wall in Hazari Pahad, leading to the destruction of four homes. The blaze not only consumed the houses but also damaged two motorcycles and several LPG cylinders. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries as local fire brigade personnel acted quickly to evacuate residents, including vulnerable groups such as women, children, and the elderly.

The fire reportedly escalated when two LPG cylinders in the kitchen of Megha Khobragade’s residence exploded, intensifying the flames. The homes of residents Patil, Hole, Khobragade, and Dhawanlal Bhoyer were severely affected, with valuable possessions like televisions, refrigerators, and clothing reduced to ashes. Eyewitnesses noted that the fire spread rapidly, initially igniting a two-wheeler owned by Jyotish Hole before engulfing his house and subsequently affecting neighboring properties.

Local resident Omprakash Jaiswal alerted the civic fire control room about the incident. A fire response team from the Civil fire station, led by Devanand Shamkule, promptly arrived at the scene, supported by another team from the Trimurti Nagar fire station. Their immediate priority was to evacuate residents trapped inside the burning structures, which they accomplished successfully, preventing any potential casualties.

The incident highlights the ongoing risks associated with slum areas, where inadequate infrastructure can exacerbate fire hazards. The rapid response from the fire brigade not only saved lives but also minimized further property damage. Local authorities are now assessing the situation to provide assistance to the affected families, who have lost their homes and belongings.

Looking ahead, community leaders are urging for improved fire safety measures in densely populated areas to prevent similar incidents in the future. Residents are encouraged to participate in fire safety workshops and to remain vigilant about potential hazards in their homes. The local government is expected to discuss further safety regulations in an upcoming meeting to enhance community preparedness against fire emergencies.
