Vishnu Manohar, a prominent chef from Nagpur, has been invited by Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs to participate in a culinary and cultural exchange program in Tel Aviv this November. This initiative aims to promote India's rich culinary heritage on an international platform, with Manohar being one of only two Indian chefs selected for this prestigious event.
During a press conference at Vishnuji Ki Rasoi, Manohar expressed his excitement about representing India's diverse food traditions. He plans to highlight millet-based dishes, the use of cold-pressed oils, and traditional brass utensils, emphasizing their cultural and nutritional significance. This six-day engagement, titled Curated Culinary and Cultural Engagement, seeks to foster understanding between the culinary practices of India and Israel.
The formal invitation will be presented to Manohar by Yaniv Revach, the Consul General of Israel in Mumbai, during his visit to Nagpur on October 19. Manohar believes this exchange will not only showcase Indian culinary practices but also provide an opportunity to learn about Israel's agricultural techniques and food culture, allowing for a comparative study of the two nations' culinary landscapes.
In addition to presenting Indian cuisine, Manohar plans to explore Israeli food traditions and bring back a selection of dishes to introduce to the people of Nagpur. This initiative is expected to enrich the local culinary scene and offer residents a taste of Israel's culinary diversity.
As the event approaches, Manohar is preparing to engage with both the culinary and cultural aspects of this exchange, aiming to create a bridge between the two nations through food. The insights gained from this experience are anticipated to benefit local chefs and food enthusiasts in Nagpur, further enhancing the understanding of global culinary traditions.
