In a significant development, the Imambada police in Nagpur have apprehended a suspect wanted for a shooting incident that took place on the night of October 4. The arrested individual, identified as Nikhil alias Tappu Savadiya, 26, was involved in firing shots in the air at Jattarodi No. 2, causing alarm among nearby residents.
The incident unfolded when Amey Dhurve, 20, was socializing with friends close to the Shitlamata Mandir. During this time, Tappu and his associate, Mrinal Gajbhiye, arrived in a vehicle and verbally assaulted the group. To instigate fear, Tappu discharged a firearm into the ground before fleeing the scene.
Following the incident, a case was filed at the Imambada police station under Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act. Authorities acted swiftly on a tip-off, leading to a strategic operation. On the night of October 10, police successfully captured Tappu on the Outer Ring Road, within the jurisdiction of the Hudkeshwar police station, and seized a pistol along with a magazine valued at approximately Rs 40,000.
This incident has raised concerns regarding public safety in the area, highlighting the need for increased vigilance and law enforcement presence. The police are currently conducting a thorough investigation to gather more details and ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
