During the recent Heart of Innovation Cardiac Summit held at Manipal Hospital Dhakuria, cardiologists underscored the significance of recognizing chest pain as a potential warning sign for heart issues. They stressed that even mild chest discomfort should never be overlooked, particularly if it occurs at night or is accompanied by sweating. Consultant interventional cardiologist Sumanta Chatterjee highlighted the importance of prompt medical attention, stating, "Never ignore chest pain, however mild."

The summit featured discussions on the critical nature of timely intervention during heart attacks. Supratip Kundu, another consultant interventional cardiologist, emphasized that immediate hospitalization is essential for opening blocked arteries. He advised patients experiencing chest pain to rest and seek help rather than attempting to drive themselves to the hospital, as delays can have dire consequences.

Kaushik Mukherjee, a cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon, shared insights on the advancements in minimally invasive cardiac surgery. He noted that these innovations are not only improving recovery times but also reducing the physical impact of surgical procedures on patients. Mukherjee stated, "The objective is not only to treat the disease effectively but also to help patients return to normal life sooner."

The summit also served as a platform for patients who had successfully undergone cardiac procedures at Manipal Hospital to share their recovery experiences. This highlighted the importance of timely medical intervention and the role of preventive healthcare in managing heart health. Ayanabh DebGupta, regional director of Manipal Hospitals East, remarked on the responsibility of healthcare providers to promote health-seeking behaviors in communities, especially given the rising incidence of cardiac issues among younger populations.

Dilip Kumar Roy, the hospital director, concluded that the summit aimed to place patients at the forefront of discussions regarding heart health, emphasizing the need for awareness and preventive measures to combat the growing trend of heart-related ailments.
