Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the 10th India Mobile Congress (IMC) at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi, marking the beginning of a four-day event dedicated to showcasing India's advancements in telecommunications and digital connectivity. This year's theme, 'Scale Without Boundaries,' emphasizes the nation's growing capabilities in technological innovation and next-generation connectivity.

During the inauguration, PM Modi reflected on the evolution of India's telecom sector and the significant strides made in digital connectivity over the years. He noted that the IMC has become a vital platform for demonstrating India's progress and aspirations in the digital realm.

The Prime Minister announced that 5G connectivity has now reached every district across the country, with more than 550,000 base stations currently operational. He emphasized the government's commitment to connecting approximately 250 million students through various digital education platforms, enhancing access to quality education.

Modi pointed out that digital connectivity has transformed sectors such as education, healthcare, and government services. He noted that children in remote areas and from economically disadvantaged backgrounds now have access to quality educational resources. He also highlighted the role of mobile phones in modern communication and good governance over the past decade.

Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who spoke at the event, provided context on the cost of data in India. He stated that in 2014, one gigabyte of data cost around 268 rupees, whereas today it is approximately eight rupees, positioning India among the countries with the most affordable data rates globally.
