Crude oil prices may face resistance, impacting market dynamics.
Rahul Ghose, the Founder and CEO of Octanom Tech, has expressed optimism regarding the IT sector's continued rally, suggesting that the current upward trend is more than a temporary relief. In an interview, he noted that the Nifty IT index has recently formed consecutive bullish engulfing candles on the monthly chart, which signals a strong reversal after a prolonged period of underperformance.
Ghose pointed out that the IT index is showing significant strength, making Coforge a stock to consider accumulating during market pullbacks. He also highlighted Tech Mahindra as another stock with a similar bullish chart structure, recommending that investors keep it on their radar. Both stocks are approaching all-time highs, where the absence of overhead supply complicates target setting, but he anticipates a potential upside of 20-25% in the medium term.
The Nifty IT index has gained approximately 17.7% over the past month, reclaiming the 32,500 mark. Ghose believes that after such a substantial increase, some consolidation is expected, and he advises using dips as opportunities for accumulation instead of chasing the upward momentum. He also sees a bullish outlook for the Nifty 50, which recently closed above 23,000 for the first time in eight sessions, with short-term targets set between 23,500 and 23,600.
In terms of broader market implications, Ghose indicated that crude oil prices are likely to face downward pressure in the coming weeks. He noted that while crude may appear bullish in the short term, it is nearing a significant resistance zone, which could hinder further price increases. This situation could impact various sectors, particularly those sensitive to oil price fluctuations.
Looking ahead, Ghose's recommendations for investors include monitoring Coforge and Tech Mahindra closely, as both stocks are positioned for potential gains. He also mentioned Apollo Hospitals as a stock with promising setups, suggesting that investors should consider buying on pullbacks to optimize their risk-reward ratio for future gains.
